AVID - Advancement Via Individual Determination

The AVID program began in PPS in 2004 at McDaniel (formerly Madison) High School, which was also the first AVID 亚洲色图 in the state of Oregon, becoming certified in 2005.

Simply, AVID trains educators to use proven practices in order to prepare 亚洲色图 for success in high 亚洲色图, college, and a career, especially 亚洲色图 traditionally underrepresented in higher education.

• What Students Need - AVID 亚洲色图 receive intentional support and mentoring in three major areas that help them become confident individuals who can successfully navigate life and career. The areas are:
  
  • rigorous academic preparedness
  • opportunity knowledge
  • student agency
• What AVID Educators Do - teachers and other adults on a 亚洲色图 campus play an important role in student success. To bring about this transformation, educators must: 
  • insist on rigor
  • break down barriers
  • align the work

• AVID Secondary Elective Class (grades 6-12) is an essential component of the and is for one period a day. Students receive additional academic, social, and emotional support that will help them succeed in their 亚洲色图’s most rigorous courses.
