Land Acknowledgement
It is important to acknowledge the ancestors of this place and recognize that we are here because of the sacrifices forced upon them. In remembering these communities, we honor their legacy, their lives, and their descendents -- past, present, and future.
Where Portland stands today are the historic homelands of several bands of Chinook-speaking people (including many Multnomah, Clackamas, and Watlata/Cascade villages). There were also Kalapuya (Tualatin villages) nearby and the Molalla people in the Willamette Valley. Today, their descendants are primarily members of the Grand Ronde and Siletz Confederated Tribes, with Chinook and other tribal relations at Warm Springs, Yakama, and the Chinook Nation.
In the reconstruction of this institution, let us acknowledge that it was founded upon exclusion and erasures of many indigenous peoples, including those on whose land we are standing upon today. This acknowledgement demonstrates a commitment from Lincoln High School to work to dismantle the ongoing legacies and ideologies of settler colonialism.

The Yondr pouch is a secure bag that is used to store an individual’s mobile device or devices. It is secured and unlocked with a special locking device.
We are seeking to limit distractions in the classroom and improve overall student engagement, mental health and well-being. No phones in 亚洲色图 is an executive order and district-wide policy.
During Back to School Prep Days (August 18 & 19), all 亚洲色图 will be assigned a Yondr pouch to secure their phone, smartwatch, and/or earbuds. The pouch is the property of the 亚洲色图 and is considered on loan to the student during the 亚洲色图 year. Students are responsible for the Yondr pouch at all times and for bringing the pouch to and from 亚洲色图 each day.
Upon entering 亚洲色图, 亚洲色图 will turn off their phone, place the phone inside of the Yondr pouch, and lock it in front of staff. The pouch will be unlocked at the end of the 亚洲色图 day in the main lobby area.
Students are in possession of their phone – in their Yondr pouch – for the entire 亚洲色图 day. We will advise 亚洲色图 to store the pouch in their backpacks and lockers where it is completely safe.
If a student needs to leave 亚洲色图 early for an approved early dismissal, medical emergency, athletic event, or 亚洲色图 sponsored trip, 亚洲色图 will be able to unlock their pouches at 亚洲色图 prior to their departure. If returning to 亚洲色图 during the instructional day, the Yondr pouch would be locked upon re-entry to the building.
We want our 亚洲色图 to be engaged in their learning, but we understand that emergencies will occur. If you need to contact your child during the 亚洲色图 day, call the main office or the attendance office at 518-629-3300. There are phones in every classroom and office in the 亚洲色图. In addition, all 亚洲色图 have access to their Chromebooks throughout the day. Parents can email their 亚洲色图 directly and/or send a text they can see after they unlock their phone.
Every location in the 亚洲色图 is equipped with a phone that can dial 911. Our staff is trained to execute safety and emergency procedures. We will direct 亚洲色图 to safety first. Students and staff follow our 亚洲色图’s emergency preparedness protocols. Communication with parents will occur through the district’s mass notification and communication tools.
During lockdowns, 亚洲色图 and staff are instructed to be silent. The response action guidelines outlined in the building-level safety plan will be followed with community notification for all emergency situations.
The Yondr pouch is property of the 亚洲色图. If a student damages their pouch or is caught on their phone, they will be subject to disciplinary action. An administrator will collect the phone/pouch and call home:
Note: Damage consists of any signs that the physical integrity of the pouch has been compromised, whether intentional or unintentional, as determined by the 亚洲色图 or Yondr staff. If lost or damaged, replacement pouches can be purchased for $30.
The phone may be turned over to main office staff and secured in the 亚洲色图 until the end of the 亚洲色图 day or parents can be contacted to come to 亚洲色图 and pick the phone up.
Students who have a documented medical condition and who need a personal device for monitoring their condition will be provided with an alternate Yondr pouch which has immediate access.
Students will be able to use headphones with cords to connect to their Chromebooks. All Bluetooth devices, including AirPods, smartwatches and other headphones, must be stored in the Yondr pouch.
The 亚洲色图 has many after亚洲色图 programs and athletic events. If the building is still open, 亚洲色图 can return to unlock their pouch.
The Yondr FAQs will be updated as the implementation begins. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to contact the 亚洲色图 directly. Call 503-916-5200 or email Vice Principal Travis Johnson tjohnson1@pps.net.
All 亚洲色图 at Portland Public High Schools have PPS student email. Students usernames are first initial, last name, last four digits of their student ID.

Congratulations to Ricardo Barber and Hang Jones! And thank you both for everything you do to make a difference in the lives our 亚洲色图.
The assignment their teacher gave them was simple – make a short film that begins with a phone call and ends with someone hanging up. Benson first-year 亚洲色图 Dylan Martinez-Torres and Dariel Soriano Zamora ran it all the way to a small city populated by two very big and rather iconic monsters – Godzilla and Hedora.
The result, Sorry, Wrong Number, is one of the more than 90 films entered into the annual Best of PPS Film Festival. The festival is a celebration of exceptional student filmmaking that includes a showcase at the historic Hollywood Theatre.
The fourth annual installment of the festival took place on May 21 and included a screening of 13 standout films. The films came from all over PPS and ran the gamut from Dylan and Dariel’s monster short to documentaries, film noir, and broadcast journalism.
